Interact Club Program - NSAMPUC, BENGALURU

Interact Club Program was inaugurated on 23/11/2015 under the guidance of our Principal, Rajalakshmy K P, and Ms.Nanditha, coordinator of interact club. The chief guest for the interact club was Mr. Shashidhar from Rotary International Company.

The aim of this program was to educate the students about acquiring leadership qualities, building up their confidence, and to create an awareness of good practices to keep the environment clean.

The program started with orientation, followed by some games. The games were arranged for the students to gauge both individual and team strategic planning, leadership quality, time management and teamwork. The various benefits of effective listening and communication skills and the importance of having a positive attitude towards life were also taught through these games. The interact club program was very informative. Some students joined as members of the interact club.

10-day Bridge course program

Dr. NSAM FGC organized (in May 2016) a 10-day bridge course on English for II PU Commerce students. Mr. Ronald, English lecturer of FGC and Mrs. Bhagya, Senior lecturer in commerce and management, FGC were coordinators and Prof. Victor the facilitator.

Prof. Victor, the founder principal of Dr. NSAM First grade college helped the students master essential grammar and pronunciation. Various group activities and individual presentation made the sessions very lively. Students enthusiastically attended the sessions. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by II PU commerce students.

Get Together

Dr. NSAM PU college organised a get together followed by a potluck lunch for all staff of PUC and FGC. We had two special guests Dr. Lalitha and Mr. Victor Ex-Principal of FGC who made time from their busy schedule and joined our party.

All the faculty members appreciated the culinary skills of peers and enjoyed carefully prepared home made item. We thank our Principal Mrs. Rajalaksmy for giving this opportunity to have this relaxing session at the end of the academic year.

Annual Day 2015 - NSAMPUC Bengaluru

Dr. NSAM PU College organised Annual Day for the academic year 2015-2016 on 20th January 2016 at Dr. NSAM Open Air Theatre. There was good participation and contribution from all the students and staff towards the success of Annual Day celebration.

 

The Chief Guest of the occasion was Shri Eshwar Murthy, Deputy Director Pre-University Education, Bangalore North . The Guests of Honour were Mrs.Sunitha Mahesh, Counselor and Director of CCD Creators, and Dr.Venkatesh, Prof. in Physics. The other dignitaries were Mr. Rohit Punja, Administrator, NET, Dr. Meera Krishnappa, FGC Principal, and our beloved Principal, Mrs. Rajalakshmy K.P.

 
     
 

The program began with an Invocation Song followed by Lighting of Lamp by all the dignitaries. Welcome speech was given by Shreya of I PUC Science. Annual Report for the academic year 2015-'16 was presented by our Principal followed by the dignitaries addressing the gathering.

Shri. Eshwar Murthy advised the students to excel in studies by the effective utilization of good infrastructure and amenities provided by the college. He also emphasized the need of proper monitoring of children by parents for good academic results.

The next event was Prize distribution for both cultural and sports activities conducted during the year 2015-2016 by all the dignitaries and lecturers. Bhavya of I PUC Science proposed vote of thanks. Mementos were presented to Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour as a token of appreciation.

A series of various cultural events followed the formal function. The high spirits and enthusiasm shown by all the students immensely contributed to the grand success of the Annual Day.

One day trip - Dr. NSAM PU college

Dr. NSAM PU college organised one day trip to Amusement Park Wonderla for both I PU and II PU students on 23-12-2015 accompanied by 9 faculty members.

We started our journey at 8:45 am in two buses.Students enjoyed the bus journey and reached the spot and checked in around 11:00 am

We started with the dry rides followed by water rides post-lunch. Everyone tapped their feet to the rhythms in rain disco before assembling back at food court.We left with lots of memories of joyful moments and reached college by 8:00 pm.

Trip was refreshing for students, a deviation from their usual routine. We thank our management and our Principal who organized the trip.

FDP - NSAMPUC BLORE

Dr. NSAM PUC arranged an FDP for both PU and FGC staff on 5-12-2015 on ' Challenges faced by teachers in today's world and Classroom management'. FDP was conducted by Mrs.Vijayam Kartha, an eminent educationalist, recipient of several awards including the President's award for the best teacher. Welcome speech was given by Dr.Meera Krishnappa, Principal, FGC.

Trip was refreshing for students, a deviation from their usual routine. We thank our management and our Principal who organized the trip.

 
     
 

Mrs. Vijayam Kartha summarized the challenges in classroom teaching

  1. Providing individual attention
  2. Dealing with indiscipline.
  3. Parental expectation.
  4. Student's attitude.
  5. Teacher's own knowledge base.
  6. Workload.
  7. Expectations from college management.

She recommended the remedies for the same as follows:

  1. To find out the source of indiscipline
  2. Children always respond to love and genuine concern, to accept them unconditionally.
  3. Knowing the students and showing care.
  4. Teacher decides the classroom climate.
  5. A teacher affects eternity.
  6. Discussion of only positive stories in the staff room.
  7. To ensure that all the students understood the subject.

Mrs. Vijayam Kartha also elaborated on giving personalized attention to the students and and making lessons interesting and meaningful.

  1. Peer help/mentoring.
  2. To encourage queries and to listen with rapt attention.
  3. Extra reading and thorough preparation of lessons.
  4. Explanation of lessons taking instances from real life.
  5. Encouraging seminars and group discussions.

She also spoke at length on how to deal with student's attitude as mentioned below.

  1. Teachers are role models.
  2. Expose the students to people from different walks of life.
  3. Share latest news on burning topics.
  4. Undertake community work; provide real life experiences .
  5. Awareness among teachers that they also were students once and the influence their teachers had in their life.

The FDP was very interactive, beneficial, and had a great influence on all the teachers. Mrs. Vijayam Kartha's real life experiences gave new insights to the teachers to have a better understanding of their role as teachers and how they can influence the students.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nanditha.

Workshop - NSAM PUC BLORE

Dr. NSAM PUC had organized a workshop for the students on 5-12-2015 based on the survey result regarding the various challenges faced by them both academically and personally. The workshop was conducted by Mrs.Vijayam Kartha, an eminent educationalist, recipient of several awards including the President's award for the best teacher. Our Principal, Mrs. Rajalakshmy.K.P., welcomed the chief guest and addressed the gathering.

Industrial visit to Mysore Sandal Soap Factory - NSAM PUC BLORE

Dr. NSAM PUC had organized an industrial visit to Mysore Sandal Soap Factory located at Yeshwantpur, Bangalore, on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Dec 2015, for both I and II PUC students, accompanied by faculty.

Mr. Gangadhar, who is an employee of the factory guided the students and briefed about the processing of soaps. They launch into the market several bathing soaps, detergents, incense sticks, and sandalwood powder. He explained in detail about the different phases that go into the making of the soaps, viz, saponification, preparation, labelling, packing, marketing etc. They did a live demonstration as to how the plant works.

The industrial visit was very informative for the students and equally satisfied their curiosity. They got a good exposure to the manufacturing of soaps and detergents using sandal wood oil, palm oil, salt etc.

Theatre show organised by PU board - NSAM PUC BENGALURU

PU Board had organized Kannada drama for both I and II PU students in Dec 2015. Two plays were staged by a drama troupe, named 'Nandana' at Ravindra Kalakshetra auditorium located near Corporation Circle, Bangalore. PUC I students saw the play "Bole Sankara", which is included in the Kannada syllabus for the academic year 2015-16. PUC II students saw the play "Krishna Gowdara Aane." Students really enjoyed both the shows and it was a refreshing experience for them.

Faculty development programme

On the 17th October 2015, the staff of both the First Grade and P.U College were privileged to have a very effective and meaningful faculty development programme conducted by Mrs. Rajalakshmi K.P, Principal of Dr. NSAM P.U College.

The topics discussed at the FDP were ‘Bridging the Gap between Teachers and Learners’, ‘Self Management’ and ‘Work Ethics’. The sessions were interactive with discussions and activities that invited a lot of participation. The presentations were focused, succinct and thought provoking. The teachers discussed pedagogical topics such as student involvement, effective assessments and others. ‘Self Management, Work Ethics, Time Management were discussed in the second session. Overall, it was a very productive session. Kudos to Ms. Rajalakhsmi for conducting a very successful program.
